Emma and her birthday cake.

She did really well eating it, not being too messy, and even used the baby-sized fork for a bit.

She got lots of presents, whic she opened herself.

The bear was requested when she finished dinner, which was in the living room but she could still see it.

This outfit and the stacking toy were both popular, and she made sure everybody was at least offered one of the pieces.

All in all, a very nice day.

Happy Birthday Emma! Emma turns one year old today, and we're having a little party later. I'll post more pictures later. But this was the smiling face I saw this morning.

I've been laid off due to lack of work. The economic downturn has come home. And while there is some possibility I could be rehired if things improve, I'm not very hopeful on that.

I'm not really in the mood to post much in the way of pictures today.

I do have some good news, though. I've been asked to teach a course on Colonial Archaeology at Ithaca College in the fall. It won't pay a lot, but it should be satisfying and fun. It will certainly be work, too, but work I'll like to do.
